EGX ends Sunday in green; market cap gains EGP 21bn

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) closed Sunday’s trading session on a positive note, backed by the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) decision to lower key interest rates on Thursday.

The benchmark EGX30 index rose by 458 points, or 3.31%, to end the session at 14,315 points.

Moreover, the small- and mid-cap EGX70 index climbed by 3.82% to 518 points, while the broader EGX100 index increased by 3.74% to 1,389 points.

Market capitalisation gained EGP 20.9 billion to close at EGP 716.7 billion.

The Egyptian bourse’s turnover amounted to EGP 941 million after 559 million shares were exchanged through nearly 29,130 transactions.

Foreign and Egyptian investors were net buyers with EGP 84.5 million and EGP 282 million, respectively, while Arab investors were net sellers with EGP 366.5 million.

The heavyweight Commercial International Bank (CIB) advanced by 2.46% to EGP 78.71.
