EGX closes Wednesday in decline amid lower market cap

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Stock Exchange (EGX) closed Wednesday’s trading session in red territory, pressured by local selloffs.

The EGX30 benchmark index dropped 2.45% to finish at 13,246.39 points.

The EGX70 index for small and medium shares retreated 1.1% to 685.86 points, while the EG100 index went down 1.26% to 1,720.11 points.

Similarly, the EGX50 index lost 1.82% to close at 2,086.64 points.

Market capitalisation dropped EGP 13.2 billion ($737.1 million) to KWD 748.2 billion by the end of Wednesday.

The Egyptian bourse’s turnover amounted to EGP 781 million after 184.7 million shares were exchanged through 23,000 transactions.

Egyptian investors acquired selling transactions at EGP 111.8 million, while both Arab and foreign traders executed purchasing deals at EGP 48.9 million and EGP 62.9 million, respectively.
