EBRD to inject $1.4bn financing into Egypt in 2018

Cairo – Mubasher: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has pumped around EUR 600 million financing in Egypt during the first six months of 2018.

The London-based lender is looking to finance projects in the Egyptian market with nearly $1.4 billion before the end of 2018, managing director of Southern and Eastern Mediterranean (SEMED) at EBRD told Alborsa News.

She indicated that the bank has financed around 35 projects last year with up to EUR 1.5 billion, including 32 projects in the private sector.

It is worth noting that EBRD will grant Egypt an EUR 200 million facility, in addition to an EUR 600 million sovereign loan that the North African nation will obtain from a number of European institutions, to rejuvenate the Cairo Metro line.
