Cairo – Mubasher: Total investments of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Egypt have registered $5 billion, the bank’s president Sir Suma Chakrabarti said.
The bank’s investments in the most populous Arab nation account for more than 50% of its total investments in Africa, he added in a statement released by the Egyptian cabinet on Sunday.
During his meeting with the Egyptian minister of investment and international cooperation Sahar Nasr, Chakrabarti remarked that the bank's investments in Africa are focused in Egypt, Tunisia, and Morocco.
The Egyptian private sector makes up 58% of the bank’s investments in Egypt, he noted.
