EBRD considers injecting $150m loan to Egypt’s NBE

Cairo – Mubasher: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) currently plans to arrange EGP 150 million worth of loans to the National Bank of Egypt (NBE) to support entrepreneurship and finance small and medium-sized projects in Egypt.

EBRD considers injecting a loan worth $20 million to local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the NBE, in addition to another loan of $30 million to support a programme allocated for Egyptian youth, EBRD disclosed.

Moreover, EBRD currently considers providing $75 million out of a total $100 million loan in addition to a $25 million to be provided by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to finance industrial, commercial, transport, and agricultural sectors of the small projects, in light of the regional framework the Green Economy Financing Facility (GEFF).
