Dubai – Mubasher: The consumer price index (CPI) in the emirate of Dubai rose 2.2% year-on-year in August.
The transport prices grew by 18.46%, whereas prices in hotels and restaurants segment and food and beverages increased by 11.93% and 3.31%, respectively, according to the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority.
Moreover, the prices of educational services increased by 3.23%, and the telecommunication prices went up 5.62%.
The prices of furniture and household goods increased by 3.37%, while the tobacco prices surged by 78.5%, and the healthcare sector’s prices edged up 0.04%.
On the other hand, the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel segment fell by 3.6, and the ready-made clothing prices eased by 3.34%, data showed.
On a monthly basis, inflation rate dipped by 0.21% in August, as compared with July, as the transport, entertainment, and telecommunication services rose by 3.98%, 2.51%, and 0.16%, respectively.
