Dubai issues 1,844 new business licences in March

Dubai – Mubasher: Dubai's Department of Economic Development (DED) said that new business licences had stood at 1,844 in March 2018.

Renewals made up 12,694 transactions of the total number in the third month of 2018, while trade names reserved and initial approvals amounted to 3,281 and 2,231 transactions, respectively, DED noted in a statement.

Dubai's state-run agency further added that March 2018 also saw 2,443 transactions pertaining to commercial permits, 2,018 auto renewals, 108 instant licences and 139 e-Trader licences.

The Business Registration and Licensing (BRL) activity in March covered all major sectors and services reflecting the overall about the emirate's business competitiveness and sustainability potential, DED said.

Majority of the transactions were related to commercial licenses with 62.2%, while the professional, industrial and tourism licenses recorded 35%, 1.6%, and 1.3%, respectively.

The outsourced service centres witnessed a record performance, accounting for 21,582 transactions, or 81.7%, of the total during the month.

DED further noted that Bur Dubai area topped the list of issued new licenses with 848, followed by Deira, New Dubai and Hatta with 847, 141 and 8 licenses, respectively.

Meanwhile, top nationalities that sought BRL services last month included Indians, Pakistanis, Egyptians, British, Chinese, Syrians, Jordanians, Bangladeshi, and Sudanese in that order, according to DED's data.
