Dubai attracts AED 16bn FDI capital flow in 9M

UAE - Mubasher: Dubai has attracted foreign direct investment (FDI) capital flow worth AED 15.9 billion ($4.3 billion) in the first nine months (9M) of 2021.

Dubai recorded a 16% rise in the number of FDI projects to 378 in 9M-21, compared to 326 in the year-ago period, according to 'Dubai FDI Monitor' published by Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI).

The strategic sectors and greenfield projects have accounted for 58% and 52% of the inbound FDIs, respectively.

Hence, the emirate has been ranked third globally in attracting greenfield FDI capital and projects, as shown by the ranking of Financial Times’ fDi Markets.

Meanwhile, high and medium technology investments comprise 64% of inbound FDI capital in the January-September period of 2021, up 2% over the same period in 2020.

The UK represented 29% of FDI capital inflows into Dubai in 9M-21, followed by France with 19%, the US with 14%, Saudi Arabia with 6%, and India with 4%.
