Riyadh – Mubasher: The Ministry of Labour will announce the programme for distance work soon, which will target a large percentage of working women, revealed deputy labour minister Ahmed Al-Homaidan.

After being understudy for two years, the programme will see the opening of four business centres for women, through which companies can rent office space for workers, the minister told Mubasher late Wednesday.

He added that the programme, which allows employees to work from remote locations, will target several businesses including call centres, human resources management, translation, legal consultancy and financial auditing and other forms of work that can be carried out through centres or from home.

Unemployment amongst women reaches 32%, whereas it is only 5% for men, the deputy minister revealed, noting that it is a major national obstacle that needs to be dealt with.

The programme also aims to provide a better working environment for women, and will save a lot of hardship and costs in transportation while at the same time will lessen the cost burden on companies, Al-Homaidan highlighted.
