Dekheila, Damietta collect EGP 2.18bn taxes, customs in May

Cairo - Mubasher: The Egyptian Customs Authority collected EGP 2.178 billion in taxes, customs duties, and other charges at Dekheila and Damietta ports during May.

The total value of taxes and customs duties collected for imported goods at Dekheila and Damietta ports amounted to EGP 447.363 million last month, according to a statement by the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.

Moreover, the value-added tax (VAT) and other charges imposed on the imported goods at the two ports stood at EGP 1.692 billion.

The imported goods included wheat, rice, sugar, legumes, maize, components of air conditioners, fridges, fans, fabrics, wood, yarn, animal feed, spare parts, motorcycles, and cars.

The two ports exported goods that include aluminium, food products, stainless steel, marble, and sand at a total value of EGP 5.809 billion. Charges collected for the exported goods recorded EGP 16.996 million.
