Dubai – Mubasher: Drake and Scull International (DSI) on Monday announced launching a new labour camp in Dubai.
The camp is expected to accommodate 5,000 workers and to serve the company’s ongoing and future projects in Dubai while raising the overall operational capacity of the firm in the UAE, DSI highlighted in a filing to the Dubai Financial Market (DFM).
The group’s total headcount of labourers across all markets currently stands at around 12,000, the major engineering and construction services company revealed, adding that DSI is currently on a recruitment drive to further reinforce its workforce.
“The company is undertaking several measures to improve its operational capabilities,” Rabih Abou Diwan, investor relations director at DSI, said.
“In the coming months, additional initiatives focusing on the adoption of best practices and optimization of cost efficiencies will be rolled out,” he continued.
DSI announced in the first week of 2018 that it has succeeded in completing its debt restructuring in the UAE, which has infused new credit facilities for ongoing and new projects.
Operational plans
Moreover, Tabarak Investment has posted that it would move ahead with its plans to bolster DSI to achieve “full operational recovery by completing existing projects, targeting new ones and looking for new opportunities to diversify and expand income”.
Tabarak Investment has stressed that its investments in DSI are strategic and long-term investment, adding that the efficiency of operations under the leadership of DSI’s new management has improved significantly, which will boost DSI’s financial performance in 2018.
