UAE - Mubasher: Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza) of DP World UAE Region has upgraded the infrastructure in its premises over the last five years by completing around AED 2.484 billion projects, including sustainable developments.
In line with the Dubai Demand Side Management (DSM) 2030, these projects are part of Jafza’s commitment to investing in sustainability projects and advance the sustainability movement in the UAE, according to a press release on Tuesday.
Hence, the free zone has installed large numbers of energy-efficient LED streetlights worth AED 80 million, alongside the AED 105 million major retrofit projects for existing facilities that reduce 30% of energy consumption.
In addition, DP World and Jafza also completed one of the region's largest rooftop solar power programmes to produce around 45 Giga Watt Hours (GWHr) annually.
The development works include AED 1.2 billion upgrades in the Jafza One complex and the improvement of a new set of Light Industrial Units (LIU’s) and warehouses at a total value of AED 130 million.
The CEO and Managing Director, DP World UAE Region and Jafza, Abdulla bin Damithan, said: "The importance of the comprehensive improvement projects lies in the constant need to develop and upgrade the infrastructure and road network in Jafza that is a trade catalyst."
