DGCX sees 12.73 million traded lots in 2020

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX) has recorded 12.73 million lots traded at a total value of AED 320.69 billion in 2020, according to a press release on Tuesday.

The DGCX saw a yearly average open interest (AOI) of 220,504 contracts in 2020, with AUD futures contracts marked as the best performing product last year.

The number of DGCX’s AUD Futures contracts rose by 4.694% year-on-year (YoY) to 0.26 million in 2020, with AOI up by more than 3.8%.

In 2020, the DGCX launched several products, including the Weekly INR-US Dollar (USD) Futures Contract, three FX Rolling Futures Contracts – Euro (EUR), Pound Sterling (GBP), and Australian Dollar (AUD) against the US Dollar (USD). 

Commenting on the exchange's performance in 2020, the CEO of DGCX, Les Male, said: "The pandemic presented disruption as well as challenges for many industries on a global scale. Against this backdrop, it is encouraging to note that not only did we keep the market open throughout 2020, but that we also extended trading hours for both the Indian Budget and US Elections in response to demand from our members and market participants."
