DFM rises on heavyweights’ gains Thursday

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market’s (DFM) general index rose 0.74% or 20.62 points to close at 2,805.22 points on Thursday, shored up by the market’s heavy-weighted stocks.

The transportation sector rose 2.2% after Aramex gained 5.06% to AED 4.15, boosted by its third quarter earnings results, while the consumer staples sector grew 1.54%, after DXB rose 1.71% to AED 0.357.

The real estate sector levelled up by 1.5%, buoyed by Emaar Properties’ shares which jumped 3.33% after the company confirmed plans to sell some of its hotel assets. In addition, Arabtec Holding rose 1.99% to AED 2.05, and Union Properties increased 1.29% to AED 0.630.

The investment sector was up 0.18% as the DFM Company gained 2.65%, while the banks and insurance sectors added 0.12% each, on the back of Dubai Islamic Bank’s (DIB) and Takaful Al Emarat’s 0.57% and 3.53% respective rises.

The market’s liquidity dropped to AED 252.83 million, while its trading volume reached 120.31 million shares at Thursday’s close.
