Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) witnessed gains in the week ended 1 June, driven by the rise of blue chips led by DFM Company.
The DFMGI rose 0.74% or 24.6 points to reach 3,351.73 points.
The transportation sector levelled up 2% as Air Arabia gained 3.9%. The investment sector also increased 1.9% after DFM Company advanced 2.8%.
Turnover amounted to AED 2.09 billion this week, compared to AED 1.33 billion last week. Trading volume reached 1.68 billion shares, compared to 1.15 billion shares.
The market’s performance is still weak despite its recovery this week, according to Jamal Ajaj, director of Al Sharhan Shares Centre in Abu Dhabi.
Stocks are expected to improve in the coming sessions amid positive expectations for troubled companies, Ajaj added.
