DFM gains 14 pts on Wednesday

Dubai – Mubasher: The Dubai Financial Market’s (DFM) general index added 0.50%, or 13.63 points to close at 2,741.50 points on Wednesday, shored up by the heavyweights’ gains amid a decline in selective buying.

The real estate sector gained 1.64% after Arabtec Holding jumped 3.43% to reach AED 1.81, while the transportation sector grew 1.59% after Aramex rose 2.02% to AED 4.03 and Air Arabia 1.16% to AED 0.957.

The investment sector increased 0.80% after Dubai Investments hiked 1.25% to AED 1.620, while the services sector was up 0.58% after National Central Cooling Co (Tabreed) rose 2.5% to AED1.64 on the back of news that the company was preparing to issue dollar-denominated sukuk.

On the other hand, the insurance sector fell 2.8% after Salama Cooperative Insurance Co plunged 28% to AED 0.700.

The banks shed 0.52% after Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) dipped 1.15%, while the consumer staples sector was also down 0.49% after DXB Entertainments lost 0.54% to AED 0.638.

The DFM’s liquidity dropped to AED 206.14 million on Wednesday from AED 220.04 million on Tuesday, while traded volume was 216.27 million shares against 260.15 million. Market capitalisation added AED 1.12 billion to close at AED 361.11 billion versus AED 359.99 billion in the previous session.
