Dubai - Mubasher: Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence (DCCE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with French multinational energy firm ENGIE.
The partnership will permit to explore opportunities to implement renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions in Dubai and the region.
It will also enable joint projects in the field of sustainability, environment, climate change and social responsibility.
The two entities will work together on the development of Green Certificates and a Carbon Market, including the DCCE’s project on International Renewable Energy Certificates (IRECs), which is a market based instrument that is issued when one megawatt hour (MWh) of electricity is generated and delivered to the electricity grid from a renewable energy source.
With an ultimate goal to support sustainable development for the present and future generations in the UAE, the partnership is in line with the government’s renewable energy programmes and drives the country closer to its goals of UAE Vision 2021, the statement concluded.
