Mubasher: Carrefour Egypt, operated by Majid Al Futtaim, seeks to invest EGP 200 million in the Egyptian economy during 2020, as part of its plan to expand in Egypt, according to a press release on Tuesday.
Carrefour Egypt's expansion includes the opening of new stores in various locations and communities from Cairo’s Al-Azhar and Al Salam and Mivida to Alexandria’s Zaki Ragab and Winget.
Moreover, the brand plans to inaugurate nine more stores by the end of 2020 to raise the total number of Carrefour branches in Egypt to 63.
Carrefour Egypt will also develop a cutting edge e-commerce channel to promote its digital presence and raise the number of its online customers.
Carrefour Egypt's Country Manager, Jean Luc Graziato, said: "Carrefour plays an integral role in boosting the local economy through its new business investments and the launch and development of online stores across various locations in Cairo and Alexandria."
Graziato added: "With the recent rise of online shopping, Carrefour has also employed an additional team to support and improve the capabilities of its e-Commerce and digital platforms. This will help to ensure that demand is adequately met on all fronts."
