CBE offers EGP 29bn debt instruments on Monday

Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has auctioned treasury bills (T-bills) at an aggregated value of EGP 21.50 billion through two offerings on Monday, 18 July.

The first issue stood at EGP 14 billion, carrying a maturity period of 91 days until 18 October this year, according to official data.

With a 273-day tenor until 18 April 2023, the second tranche was valued at EGP 7.50 billion.

The CBE also issued treasury bonds (T-bonds) worth EGP 500 million through one offering, which will mature in seven years on 5 July 2029.

Moreover, the central bank offered zero-coupon T-bonds at a value of EGP 7 billion through one auction, holding a 1.5-year maturity period until 16 January 2024.

On 17 July, the CBE issued T-bills and T-bonds at a total value of EGP 34.50 billion over three tranches.
