CBE issues EGP 62bn debt instruments on Thursday

Cairo - Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) auctioned treasury bills (T-bills) at a total value of EGP 60 billion through two offerings on Thursday, 28 December 2023.

The first tranche stood at EGP 30 billion, carrying an 182-day maturity period until 2 July 2024, according to official data.

Holding a tenor of 364 days until 31 December next year, the second auctions was valued at EGP 30 billion.

Moreover, the financial authority issued fixed treasury bonds (T-bonds) through one issue. The offering is valued at EGP 2 billion and will mature in three years on 2 January 2027.

On 24 December, the CBE offered T-bills at a combined value of EGP 47.50 billion through two auctions.
