Cairo – Mubasher: The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) denied taking any step to either float or depreciate the Egyptian pound, Middle East News Agency (MENA) cited Tarek Amer, CBE governor.
The governor clearly stated that this release is completely “inaccurate” and the bank is currently taking all measures necessary for dollar availability,
Egyptian banks provided EGP14 billion to cover the country’s imports, Tarek said, adding that CBE is planning to maintain the pound’s purchasing power in the medium term.
