Cairo – Mubasher: Total credit facilities granted by banks in Egypt recorded EGP 3.59 trillion at the end of July 2022, a hike of EGP 31.60 billion, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) cited a report by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
This rise was attributed to higher bank loans granted to non-governmental bodies by EGP 19.60 billion in July, coupled with higher credit facilities granted to governmental bodies by EGP 12 billion.
Meanwhile, deposits in foreign currency grew by EGP 5.50 billion in July while deposits in local currency went up by EGP 6.50 billion.
In July 2022, total deposits at Egyptian banks hiked by EGP 118 billion to EGP 7.49 trillion, compared to EGP 7.37 trillion a month earlier.
Egypt’s domestic liquidity increased by EGP 97 billion to hit EGP 6.70 trillion by the end of July.
