Mubasher: The main index of the Bahrain Bourse gained 0.38% or 4.56 points in a year to close 2016 at 1,220.45 points.
Bahrain bourse gains in 2016 came on the gains of each of the investment as well as the commercial banking sectors, which added 11.79% and 0.81% respectively.
On the flip side, the declines of four main sectors have limited Bahrain bourse gains in 2016, topped by the hotels sector that slide 14.33%, followed by industrial, services and insurance sectors as they slipped 13.5%, 8.29% and 4.11% respectively.
The banking sector accounted for 51.56% of the market trading value in 2016, while the services sector accounted for 25.35%.
The market witnessed 650.82 million shares changed hands, worth BHD 97.1 million in 2016.
