UAE - Mubasher: Austria-based SAN Group will establish a green biotechnology facility in Al Hamra Industrial Zone in Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ) in exchange for AED 12 million.
The group's green hydrogen and farming subsidiary, SAN Enertech, will build a sustainable hydrogen production unit, plant, and fish farming spanning over a land plot of 8,470 square metres, according to a recent press release.
To be fully operational by the end of 2022, the biotech facility will include a research centre, laboratory, desalination plant, as well as greenhouse, hydroponic, and aquaponic indoor systems.
The Founder and President of SAN Group, Erich Erber, said: "SAN Enertech, as a commercial organisation, seeks to collaborate with local scientists to jointly expand the know-how and experience in the field of self-sustained farming."
Meanwhile, the Group CEO of RAKEZ, Ramy Jallad, commented: "Ras Al Khaimah strives to be at the forefront of sustainability in the region and RAKEZ contributes to this by creating a nurturing environment for players in the sustainable sector."
