Al Kharafi labourers protest late wages

By: Ahmed Awad

Kuwait – Mubasher: Tens of Al Kharafi National oil labourers organised a strike on Monday protesting late wages and the halting of medical insurance services.

“Our requirements focus on the equality between oil labourers in private companies with their counterparts in governmental ones in terms of wages and rights,” strike organiser Osama Al Rashed  told Mubasher.

He added that the wages of Al Kharafi’s labourers are usually late despite the promises made by the company to resolve the financial crisis affecting around 180 workers.

Nasser Bou Ghosn, an organiser, said that oil labourers’ contracts in Al Kharafi National are civil contracts and not oil contracts as accustomed, which is illegal.
