Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Regional Training Sector for Water Resources and Irrigation (RTSWRI), affiliated to the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, signed an agreement with the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (MAIB) for “The Egyptian-Italian Water Training Programme - Water knowledge” project.
The project is provided as a grant from Italy to Egypt at a value of EUR 2.30 million, according to an official statement on Monday.
Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, Hany Swailem, attended the signing ceremony.
Swailem stated that the project aims to build capabilities, and improve the efficiency of workers in the water sector while exchanging knowledge and experience, adding that the project’s goals and outcomes fall within the Egyptian National Strategy 2030 for sustainable development.
Five Egyptian ministries, namely irrigation, agriculture, housing, electricity, and environment, will benefit from the project along with Egyptian universities and research institutions and many African countries, the minister revealed.
