UAE – Mubasher: Africa Oil Week, Africa's leading oil and gas event, could be relocated to Dubai in this year's edition from its original setting in Cape Town in South Africa, Bloomberg reported.
Known as AOW, the event will be convened in the UAE on 8-11 November 2021, namely because of the progress made in its vaccination programme, according to a cited brochure that includes support from Total SE, Chevron Corp., and Eni SpA along with a Dubai convention bureau.
Relocating Africa Oil Week will result in further losses incurred by South Africa’s travel and tourism industry amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
South Africa is also facing some delays around its vaccine rollout.
"We are carefully reviewing current travel limitations, restrictions for hosting large-scale events as well as progress with the vaccination programs in various locations globally," the Director for the event at Hyve Group, Chris Hall, reportedly said.
