Abu Dhabi shares weaken for second day

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) moved lower on Sunday, extending Thursday’s losses, as it was dragged lower by blue-chip stocks amid thin trading activity.

The main index lost 0.78% or 33.65 points to close at 4,298.26 points.

The consumer staples sector was the biggest loser, with a drop of 2.71%, driven lower by Agthia stock.

Today’s traded volume declined to 51.6 million shares, from 72.179 million shares. Traded value also fell to AED 69.6 million from AED 127.46 million.

The energy sector shed 1.18% after Dana Gas went down by 1.96%. It shrugged off the rise of TAQA by 2.44%.

The telecom sector moved lower by 1.10% due to Etisalat stock.

The banks sector shed 0.86% after FGB, ADIB, NBAD lost 1.73%, 1.8% and 1.12% respectively.

The real estate sector tailed the list of decliners, with a loss of 0.07%, after Aldar Properties sagged 0.37%. Eshraq rose by 1.32%.

The investment sector was the sole riser, with a gain of 2.13%, backed by Waha Capital.
