Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The non-oil foreign trade of Abu Dhabi declined by 8.8% year-on-year (YoY) to stand at AED 154.4 billion during the first nine months of 2019 when compared to AED 169.3 billion, data from the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD) showed.
This decline was dragged by 12.7% lower imports at AED 75.4 billion and a 14.8% decline in non-oil exports at AED 41.4 billion from January to September 2019, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Thursday.
Moreover, the value of re-exports was up by 9% during the period under review, according to SCAD’s report.
In September, the emirate’s total trade figures went down by 2.7% YoY as a result of a 29.9% drop in exports. “The total value of imports and re-exports increased by 11.5 and 3.47%, respectively,” the report revealed.
As regards the top non-oil foreign trade partner to Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia topped the list with AED 4.55 billion, followed by France with AED 2.28 billion, the US with 965.3 million, and Japan and Kuwait with AED 932.6 million and AED 909.9 million, respectively.
