Abu Dhabi non-oil trade rises 2.2% in 4M - SCAD

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Statistics Centre − Abu Dhabi (SCAD) reported a 2.2% rise in Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade volume in the first four months of 2017.

The value of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade rose AED 1.3 billion to reach AED 58.2 billion in the first four months of 2017 from AED 56.9 billion in the same period in the year before.

The value of re-exported goods trade, which backed the volume of Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade, soared 42.1% to AED 8.6 billion

The SCAD stated in its report that imports levelled up 13.6% to reach AED 42.3 billion.

Non-oil exports declined 46.4% to AED 7.313 billion in the first four months of 2017.

In April 2017, Abu Dhabi’s non-oil foreign trade dropped by 4.4% to AED 12.3 billion, compared to April 2016, the SCAD added.

Non-oil foreign trade declined in April 2017, as the value of non-oil exports fell 22.2% to AED 1.607 billion, re-exports dropped 4.3% to AED 1.426 billion, and the volume of imports inched down 0.4% to AED 9.261 billion.

According to the report, China topped the list of the top importing countries from Abu Dhabi in the first trimester of 2017 with AED 1.557 billion, despite a 26.3% decline, compared to the corresponding period of 2016.

Saudi Arabia came in second place with imports worth AED 869.97 million, declining 53.5% in the first four months of the current year.

On the other hand, the US topped the list of the top exporting countries to Abu Dhabi in the first four months of 2017 with AED 6 billion, followed by Japan, with exports surging 49% to AED 4.1 billion.
