Abu Dhabi in process of building region's first quantum computer

UAE - Mubasher: Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII) has unboxed the cryostat, the initial frame of the region's first quantum computer that is being assembled in the emirate, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

TII’s Quantum Research Centre (QRC) is leading the technology project to provide the world with a supercomputer with exponential computational capabilities.

Earlier this week, two helium dilution refrigerators with six levels arrived from Finland, which are the main components for using helium isotopes to cool the quantum chips and keep the quantum information.

In collaboration with Barcelona-based Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, Abu Dhabi is building the quantum computer to support various fields from discovering new medicines and designing better batteries to developing artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

A quantum computer uses quantum mechanics phenomena to create stronger processing powers and perform complex calculations.
