Abu Dhabi Ports inks agreement to establish cruise terminal in Aqaba

UAE - Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Ports Group has inked an agreement with the Aqaba Development Corporation to establish a cruise terminal at Marsa Zayed in Aqaba, marking the group's first facility in Jordan and the first outside of the UAE.

As part of a strategic plan to enhance maritime and tourism sectors, the new terminal will receive cruise ships passengers visiting the Red Sea and serve as a gateway in the Port of Aqaba, according to a press release on Sunday.

Another head of terms agreement was also reached for the group's digital arm, Maqta Gateway, to implement an advanced Ports Community System (PCS) to monitor communication between Aqaba ports and terminals operators.

The Group CEO of AD Ports Group, Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, said: "The creation and operation of a new cruise terminal at Marsa Zayed will be a milestone for Jordan’s fast-growing cruise and tourism sector and is the first of many enhancement projects that we have planned."

The CEO of Aqaba Development Corporation, Hussein Alsafadi, commented: "It will also facilitate the movement of cruise ship passengers arriving from countries across the Mediterranean Sea and Europe, who typically visit the Golden Triangle of Jordan."
