ASE rises Wednesday on blue chips

Mubasher: The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) ended Wednesday’s trading session in the green zone, as the main index added 0.02% or 0.44 points and closed at the level of 2,186.42 points.

The main index rose on the back of blue chip stocks as Arab Bank, Islamic bank of Jordan, and Bank Al Itihad increased by 0.16%, 0.26%, and 0.99% respectively. The three stocks account for more than 17% of the main index weight.

The industrial sector added 0.4%, as Arab Aluminum led the session’s gainers and grew 3.26%, while Arab Potash increased by 2.94%.

The financial sector gained 0.13% as Invest Bank, and Jordan Kuwait Bank went up by 1.75% and 1.31% respectively, while Al-Amal Investments registered the highest turnover at JOD 457,500.

On the other hand, only the services sector closed in red, as its index lost 0.58% on the back of Jopetrol while Philadelphia Int'l Educational Investment led the decliners and fell by 1.78%.

Total traded volumes declined to 4.9 million shares from 6.04 million shares on yesterday’s session, while traded values went down to JOD 5.9 million from JOD 5.94 million on Tuesday.
