ADX falls early Sunday on Etisalat

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) opened Sunday, and the week, in the red, pressured by its leading stock Etisalat.

By 10:45 am UAE time, the general index shed 0.17% or 7.85 points to reach 4,560.43 points.

The decline was mainly due to the telecom sector, which fell 0.53% on the back of Etisalat, which saw a similar decline, while the real estate sector lost 0.4% after Eshraq retreated 1.08%.

On the other hand, the investment sector grew 0.5% after Waha Capital saw similar gains, while the banks sector edged up 0.04%, backed by the National Bank of Ras Al Khaimah (RAKBank) which increased 5.1%.

Earlier on Sunday, analysts told Mubasher that investors across the UAE’s two markets were keeping their eyes on companies’ financial disclosures this week.

Traders are not willing to expand their investment positions, which will negatively affect the markets, analyst Salem Al Newairy noted.
