ADDED partners with Masdar to protect consumers, trademarks in free zone

UAE - Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) has partnered with Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) to protect consumers, trademarks, and markets within the Masdar City Free Zone, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Under the agreement, ADDED and Masdar will strengthen their cooperation to lay down rules for commercial protection and organisation of inspection and supervision visits to the markets.

The agreement is part of the two entities' objective to foster the business ecosystem in Abu Dhabi's free zones and protect the rights and ownership of trademarks and foreign companies.

Meanwhile, Masdar mandates the ADDED to receive all consumer complaints against commercial establishments operating in the free zone, while Masdar follows all procedures of control and seizure, namely for counterfeit and forged goods.

As part of the agreement, Masdar is also enabled to issue a decision to temporarily close any violating facility.
