ADAFSA develops platform to improve food security in Abu Dhabi

UAE - Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has launched a data platform to develop food security in Abu Dhabi.

ADAFSA teamed up with the stakeholders from the public and private sectors to set up the platform which will feature an integrated dashboard to monitor the local, regional, and global food security situation in the emirate, according to a press release.

Moreover, the platform will provide access to accurate and comprehensive insights about Abu Dhabi’s agricultural production, trade, logistics, environment, weather, biosecurity, and food safety.

The platform comes in line with ADAFSA’s vision to ensure food availability and safety while promoting sustainable agricultural development in Abu Dhabi.

Director General of ADAFSA, Saeed Al Bahri Alameri, said: “The platform supports developing a sustainable, flexible, and integrated food system supported by a rapid response system, to effectively address food and biosecurity risks, thus increasing the competitiveness of local products.”

It is worth noting that during the first quarter (Q1) of 2020, ADAFSA had pledged nearly AED 641 million in support for food security and the agricultural sector.
