77% of Umm Al Houl power plant completed - CEO

Doha – Mubasher: The CEO of Umm Al Houl Power Company, Jamal Al Khalaf, said Sunday that 77% of the Umm Al Houl power plant has been completed with total investments of QAR 11 billion ($3 billion).

Al Khalaf added that the company has finished 100% of the maritime works, noting that the plant covers about 25% of the Qatar's electricity needs and 30% of the country’s water need, according to a bourse statement.

The second phase of the project includes producing 1,640 megawatts of electricity. After finishing the third phases, the plant will produce136 million gallons of water per day and 2,520 megawatts of electricity by the beginning of the first half of 2018.

Umm Al Houl Power Company is a subsidiary of Qatar Electricity and Water Company.
